Waterloo Regional Police are continuing their appeal for information into a recent alleged sexual assault against a young girl, plus two others that have been linked by DNA.
On Thursday morning, police set up a command post in the parking lot at A R Kaufman Public School on Chopin Drive in Kitchener.
That's the neighbourhood where the latest assault took place on Saturday, July 6.
Police say a four-year-old girl was playing when she was approached by a man inside an apartment building and sexually assaulted.
At a news conference on Wednesday, police said that assault has been linked to two others through DNA analysis.
The other two assaults happened in 2017 and 2013:
- The evening of October 27, 2017, police say a six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in an apartment building, located at 318 Patricia Avenue in Kitchener
- A four-year-old girl was also sexually assaulted inside an apartment building, located at 429 Barrie Place in Waterloo. That happened on October 20, 2013 between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Police also said at the news conference they will be canvassing a number of neighbourhoods throughout the region to share information about the investigation and the suspect.
“We believe that someone out there knows the person responsible for these sexual assaults. We hope that people will come forward to provide whatever information they may have to assist our investigators.” said Waterloo Regional Police Inspector, Mark Crowell.
Police also believe there may be more victims, who have not yet been identified.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 5 foot 10 with a medium build.
