Concerned motorist calls in suspected impaired driver

On Monday June 17, 2019, at approximately 4:25 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a concerned motorist who was following a possible impaired driver on Wellington Road 34 in Puslinch Township. The witness described the suspect vehicle as a red pick-up truck that was being operated erratically, struck a curb and nearly collided with a tree. 

Police located the vehicle after it pulled into a private driveway and while speaking with the driver, determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Antonio ALVES, 62-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Operation and 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 23, 2019 to answer to the charges.
