Most Grand River Parks set to open Wednesday

The Grand River Conservation Authority says it's time to grab the marshmallows and tents, as they're ready to swing open the gates for their 2019 camping and recreational season starting Wednesday, May 1.
That means 2,250 camping sites will be available to the public along with many other activities including hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming.
Byng Island (Dunnville), Brant (Brantford), Conestogo Lake (Drayton), and Elora Gorge. Belwood Lake (east of Fergus), Guelph Lake, Rockwood, Laurel Creek (Waterloo), Shade's Mills (Cambridge) and Pinehurst Lake (Paris) will be opening on Wednesday for full services including boating and canoeing.
The GRCA tells 570 NEWS, though, that no water-related activities are advised in the Shade's Mills area.
It is still being assessed by the Ministry of Environment following 50,000 litres of jet fuel being spilled on the 401 earlier this year.
An update on that situation is expected by early May.
Elora Quarry is another exception, not set to open until June 1.
The GRCA says a membership card will get you access to all 11 parks this season as well as Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area, as well as a booklet of vouchers.
