HONOLULU — A member of the U.S. Navy’s newest class of warships has arrived in Pearl Harbor.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that USS Zumwalt arrived in the Honolulu port Tuesday morning.

Officials say the 610-foot (186-meter) long guided missile destroyer that is fitted with stealth features departed its home port of San Diego March 8 for its first operational sail with a call in Esquimalt, British Columbia, March 11 and then a visit to Ketchikan, Alaska, March 23.

Officials say the journey from Alaska to Pearl Harbor was the farthest foray into the Pacific for the ship that was launched in October 2013.

Officials say the approximately $4 billion ship has a crew of about 175 and is 100 feet (30 metres) longer and 13 feet (4 metres) wider than the previous class of destroyer.
