Gather the Knights. From humble beginnings in Guelph, The Round Table is expanding its franchise into two locations in Kitchener and Waterloo. The Watchtower restaurant in Waterloo and Settlement Coffee Roasters in Kitchener will be remodeled and freshly branded as The Round Table as of March 1 and by April 1, respectively.
Known in Guelph for its Medieval and Arthurian theme, folks at The Round Table in KW can expect the same stone wall décor, expansive board game library, and player-friendly atmosphere. The Round Table will continue to be a space for Magic the Gathering and table-top RPG players.
In this new partnership, patrons will be able to enjoy an exclusive line of locally roasted coffees at any Round Table location. In addition, Settlement Coffee Roasters' sister company, Abe Erb Brewing Company, will be brewing up a range of local beers like the upcoming “Lager of the Lake”.
“The Round Table is going through its franchising method,” said Round Table owner and CEO, Thomas Gofton. “It's creating a base cocktail menu and game library – this is what every Round Table will have.”
Gofton also aims to include a historical link to each of the locations original offerings before being rebranded. The former Watchtower location will offer full restaurant service, while the former Settlement Coffee Roasters spot will provide a range of baked goods.
“We met Thomas and started sharing business visions of flex basis, because having something, one thing, under one roof, doesn't make sense,” said Rob Theodosiou, CEO of Abe Erb Brewing and Settlement Coffee Roasters. “Brands can be blended together to showcase the brands better.”
“We're really good at roasting coffee and making beer, and we just thought that with this location, Settlement would be the blood and DNA and Round Table would be the body of the brand.”
This expansion comes just after the recent announcement that The Round Table will be expanding to Tallinn, Estonia. Gofton's next project is the Harry Potter inspired, Lumus and Nox: Breakfast House and Chamber of Spirits, and it is set to open in Guelph in the first half of 2019.
