Have big party plans for New Year's Eve? Well, make sure you're also planning a safe ride home.
If you don't want to fork over money for a cab, Grand River Transit is trying to help.
Neil Malcolm is Assistant Director of Transit Services with GRT.
“On Monday the 31st, GRT provides free bus rides that evening. Free rides are available after 6 p.m. until the end of service.”
Malcolm said you can also use the EasyGO Trip Planner.
“That's to plan your route in advance, and your trip home, so you don't have to worry about the drive home after your evening out.”
Malcom added there is also extended service for many routes.
“We do extend the service on a number of routes. Some routes will go until after 2 a.m. through the Charles Street Terminal – so if you're out late, you'll have a chance to catch a ride home later in the evening. Just be sure to check our website to see how late your bus is running.”

There's also good news if you're headed out of town – as Metrolinx is offering free GO transit service on New Year's Eve after 7 p.m.
