A pair of third period goals 43 seconds apart catapulted the Kitchener Rangers over the North Bay Battalion 4-2 Friday night at The Aud, snapping a three-game home losing streak.
It was also the first of six straight games against an Eastern Conference opponent.
The first period was a little back-and-forth, with the Troops getting the majority of the offensive zone time. But penalties took a bite out of their momentum.
On the third PP opportunity of the period, Alexey Lipanov struck from the slot area to open the scoring late.
The Rangers struck again with 37.3 seconds left in the first, and it was the returning Riley Damiani snapping one home.
However, the second period was all North Bay on the scoresheet.
Justin Brazeau displayed some great patience to cut to the front of the net on the rush and pocketed the 2-1 marker around eight minutes in.
About four minutes later, former Guelph Storm forward Mason Primeau tipped a point shot on the power play to tie it up in time for the third.
In the final frame, back-to-back goals from Chase Campbell and Nick McHugh put the Blueshirts over the top.
Damiani notched an extra two assists on a three point night, while Greg Meireles added three helpers of his own to extend his point streak to seven games.
Luke Richardson stopped 27 of 29 in the win, while Christian Propp made 30 saves in the loss.
The Rangers host the Kingston Frontenacs Sunday afternoon.
