No decision yet on controversial proposed development on Waterloo’s west side

No decision yet from Waterloo city council on a controversial proposed development in the Beechwood area of the city.

Council held an informal public meeting on the issue last night.

Many residents in the area of 508 Beechwood Drive are raising concerns about the size of the development, what it could mean for property values, among other concerns.

The proposed development is on Beechwood off Erb.

The developer proposes keeping an existing seven-storey apartment building in place, but would tear down the parking structure and tennis courts and construct a 12-storey, 140-unit apartment building.

The city maintains they are still working through the planning review, asking questions and getting public feedback.

There’s no word on when a decision on the proposal will be made.
