OPP are investigating after a bank robbery in the small Ontario community of Scotland – just southwest of Brantford.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says it happened Friday afternoon, around 3:49 p.m.
“Officers responded to a robbery at the Royal Bank of Canada. Through the course of our investigation, it was determined that two males were wearing disguises and displayed firearms.”
Sanchuk says the ‘masked’ suspects took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“The males fled the bank – and were last seen fleeing the area in a dark coloured vehicle, and were driving westbound towards Highway 24.”
OPP want to speak to anyone that may have seen this vehicle, or the males involved.
“We’re asking community residents in the area to contact OPP if they have a surveillance system hooked up to their home or business – as they may have captured these individuals running away from the area.”
Sanchuk says luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
“We want to remind the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times – there were no injuries, as the employees at the Royal Bank did the right thing. They were able to get the suspects out of the bank as soon as possible, and kept all of their employees and customers safe.”
Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
