Remains discovered belong to homicide victim who went missing in 2012: police

Police say they’ve identified human remains found in a conservation area south of London as those of a woman believed to have been killed six years ago.
OPP say the remains found at the Hawkins Tract Catfish Creek Conservation Area on Feb. 24 are those of Vanessa Fotheringham.
London police say 24-year-old Fotheringham was last seen on Feb. 16, 2012.
They say in April 2016, Antonio Valentin Resendez Cortez, a migrant worker from Mexico, was charged with second-degree murder in relation to her death and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police say Resendez Cortez and Fotheringham were known to each other, and he went back to Mexico shortly after Fotheringham disappeared.
London police say their major crime unit, RCMP and Mexican authorities are working to find Resendez Cortez.
