Polly want a ticket? Driver in Perth East fined for loose parrot in vehicle

Polly want a ticket? Huron County OPP have charged a driver whom they say was pulled over with a large parrot sitting on their shoulder.

Constable Laura Brown tells 570 NEWS they got a tip last Thursday from a passing motorist who reported someone driving around Perth East with a large bird flying loose inside the vehicle.

That driver was pulled over on Perth Road 119.

Brown says the driver was charged for ‘crowding the driver’s seat’ under Section 162 of the Highway Traffic Act — essentially for doing something that could interfere with a driver safely operating a vehicle.

Brown says as unusual as this case is, it’s a reminder that all pets and cargo must be secured within your vehicle.

Otherwise, she says, they become dangerous flying debris should you ever get into a crash.
