Hold and Secure lifted at Parkway Public School after vehicle fire

By cceolin

Officials have called off a Hold and Secure at Parkway Public School in Cambridge, following a vehicle fire in the area that sent flames shooting out of a garage and a large cloud of smoke drifting over the school.

The order was given around 3 p.m., due to the blaze in a garage at a home on Preston Parkway near Parkview Crescent, across from the school.

The Waterloo Region District School Board has tweeted all students and staff are safe, and are asking parents who have not already done so to pick up their children at the school’s back door near the church.

Fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.

One woman was assessed by paramedics on scene, but there were no injuries.
