Opposition Leader Andrew Scheer has turfed a controversial senator from the Conservative caucus after she refused to remove what he deemed a “racist” comment from her parliamentary website.
Scheer says he learned Tuesday that Lynn Beyak had posted online about 100 letters from Canadians in support of her controversial position on residential schools.
He asked her to remove one that suggested Indigenous People want to get things for “no effort” — but she wouldn’t.
It was last spring that former party leader Rona Ambrose kicked Beyak off the Senate Aboriginal affairs committee for having said more good than bad happened at residential schools, and that too much focus was put on abuse.
