Another influenza outbreak at Grand River’s Freeport Campus

Grand River Hospital is limiting visitors to part of its Freeport Campus due to an influenza A outbreak.

The outbreak was declared for the Grand River Terrace level four, in the east and south courts.

The hospital says three patients have symptoms consistent with the flu, and they’ve now been isolated to prevent the outbreak from spreading further.

Staff are also cleaning the units aggressively, postponing group activities, and limiting visitors to the unit until further notice.

Anyone with cold-like symptoms is being asked to not enter the hospital until they’ve been healthy for a full two days.

The affected units must be free of new influenza cases for five days, before an outbreak can be lifted by Public Health.
