The ION LRT begins testing under its own power

Another big step forward for local transit: an ION LRT vehicle has been out on the tracks today, being tested on how it runs under its own power.
Earlier testing of the ION was simply a diesel engine pushing one of the new vehicles down the tracks.
Power testing will continue over the next couple of weeks.
The plan is still to get the service up and running and open to the public sometime in the Spring.
Recent budget documents show the whole project has come in 50-million dollars over budget.
