Special weather statement warns of strong wind gusts overnight

Hold on to your hats, Waterloo Region!

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning of strong wind gusts overnight Saturday.

The national weather authority says a low pressure system over Colorado is moving in, and may affect us both today and tomorrow.

Gusts of up to 80 km/h are likely, and some areas could see occasional gusts of 90 km/h.

They warn that winds may be strong enough to cause tree damage, and isolated power outages.

Winds are expected to slowly diminish by Sunday night.

The weather statement has also been issued for Guelph, Erin, Arthur, Mount Forest, Southern Wellington County, and Northern Wellington County.
