Police update numbers from homecoming, U of G president issues apology

Guelph Police have released the numbers after a particularly rowdy homecoming weekend at the University of Guelph.

Over 100 noise complaints were investigated over the weekend, with ten resulting in charges.

Police also handed out ten drunk in public and five open alcohol tickets.

According to police, the summer-like weather played a large part in the size and energy of the crowd.

Police estimate about 4,000 gathered on Chancellors Way near the university, Saturday afternoon.

A large amount of garbage was left over from the night of partying, prompting an apology video from both the mayor of Guelph and the president of the university.
