Quebec provincial police are combing an area around Lachute for a missing 71-year-old man connected to Thursday’s Amber Alert for a six-year-old boy.
A ground and air search is being conducted for Yvon Lacasse and authorities say finding him is a top priority for the investigation.
The first vehicle alleged to have been used by the suspect in the child’s disappearance was found at a local rest stop.
Police found the boy and arrested the father Friday in a vehicle belonging to Lacasse southwest of Renfrew, Ontario.
Police have speculated that the child’s father may have dropped Lacasse off somewhere in his flight to eastern Ontario.
The body of the boy’s mother was also discovered in the family home north of Montreal.
The 41-year-old father appeared in an Ontario court yesterday and will be transferred back to Quebec, however, there’s been no word on the charges he’ll face.
