It’s the chance to go shopping for a good cause.
Vice Chair Shawn Hlowatzki tells 570 NEWS that the HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre has once again partnered with local Hudson Bay Company stores for ‘Giving Day’ on Friday.
“Giving Day is an initiative that the Hudson Bay Company puts on — and this fall, it’s September 15. Essentially, clients buy a $5.00 ticket, and they get basically a passport of savings that they can use that day on a number of items in store. On that day, all of the money from those tickets will go towards HopeSpring.”
Hlowatzki says you still have time to go purchase a ticket directly from HopeSpring, or a ‘Hopester’ in the community.
“We’re so pleased to be able to partner with the Hudson Bay Company. For us, we’re in a transition phase at the moment, so we’re trying to remain open, and we have a robust fundraising strategy in place to make sure we will continue to have services available for people living with cancer, caregivers, and others in our community.”
Hlowatzki says they’ll be hosting another fundraising initiative this fall called the ‘Hope Sale’.
“Everybody has junk, so we’ll come and pick it up, and then we will host a sale later in the season. We’re still ironing the final date, but if you’d like to donate anything, you can reach me personally at 519-404-2998 — and we can arrange a pick-up of the items, and we can store them until we’re ready for the actual sale.”
Hlowatzki adds that HopeSpring is incredibly grateful to our community for our continued support.
“Local businesses have stepped up, other donors etc have all come forward, and it’s just wonderful. Also for those in the community, you can visit Canada Helps and type in HopeSpring.. and that is an area where you can donate from the comfort of your home.”
