A new Highway 7 from Kitchener to Guelph, stalled again

Another delay for a new Highway 7 from Kitchener to Guelph.

The Record says the new deadline to complete the highway is now sometime after 2021.

Planning started almost 30 years ago and to date over $100 million has been spent.

An official with the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce tells the paper he’s concerned. Art Sinclair, the vice-president of public policy for the Chamber, says there is a lot of economic activity in both communities, adding it’s time we got back on the province’s priority list.

The plan, is to run the new four-lane highway, north of the current Highway 7. The province has yet to detail the cost.
