August will go down as a cool one

August of 2017 goes down in the books as the coolest August in nine years.
The University of Waterloo Weather Station says we only had one day last month in which the temperature climbed above 30 degrees.
The previous August we had eight such days.
Still, the average overall temperature last month was only slightly below normal.
We also experienced slightly higher precipitation than in a normal August: about 94 millimetres as compared to 84.
On a year to date basis, however, between January and the end of last month, total precipitation measured 775 millimetres which is well above the average of 596.
