University of Waterloo to host eclipse viewing party

With the big solar eclipse expected today, the University of Waterloo will be hosting a viewing party.
Weather permitting, Waterloo Science invite people to gather on the Village 1 Green to learn about the rare event through talks with scientists as well as a live stream of NASA’s coverage of the total eclipse in the United States.
The event is “sold out” although no ticket is required.
Eclipse glasses will be provided to the first 350 registrants.
The viewing party will begin at 1 PM with peak totality set for 2:30 PM.
Toronto along with Waterloo will enjoy 70 per cent coverage, Calgary 77 per cent and Vancouver 86 per cent.
No matter where Canadians take in the event, they’re being cautioned to wear eclipse glasses to prevent serious eye damage.
