Guelph man identified as one of two victims from a deadly 401 crash near Port Hope

The OPP have identified a Guelph man as one of two victims who died in a crash last week that shut down the entire 401 near Port Hope.

Last Thursday night, an eastbound tractor trailer collided with two other eastbound passenger vehicles, causing a fire.

Two men travelling together in a pick-up were killed, one of whom was 35-year-old Michael Glazier of Guelph.

The other was 26-year-old Todd Gardiner of Newcastle.

From Northumberland OPP, Constable Tanya Royall tells 570 NEWS the damage to their pick-up “was very extensive.”

The fire was so intense, she says, it also damaged the surface of the 401.

She says the investigation continues, and there’s been no decision about the possibility of charges.
