No charges for Air Transat passenger who called 911

The passenger aboard an Air Transat plane that sat on the tarmac of the Ottawa Airport for several hours Monday, will not face criminal charges for calling 911.
Marc Jetté called authorities after roughly five hours of being stuck on the plane, as the panic level among other passengers continued to grow.
Jetté was travelling back from a vacation in the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium with his wife and three teenage daughters, who he said were terrified. He told La Presse he was trying to prevent the situation from getting any worse, after some people began to yell for the pilot to open the doors or let people off of the aircraft.
After police arrived, there was an announcement over the intercom for the passenger who called authorities to come forward. Once he did, police questioned Jetté about why he called, and he says an officer told him he could face charges because he wasted the police’s time.
Ottawa Police told our sister station 1310 NEWS Friday morning that an investigation was ever opened into the 911 call.
The news he would not be charged came as a significant relief to Jetté, who works as a civil servant and was fearful for his job; he is not allowed to have a criminal record.
