Waterloo receives big boost for stormwater infrastructure

The City of Waterloo will soon be better protected against flooding.

A $3 million investment from the federal and provincial government will help the city upgrade 60 storm-water ponds.

Mayor Dave Jaworsky says in an age of climate change these upgrades are needed now more than ever. “This will invest in 9 of the ponds to help clean them out and give them extra capacity to help protect us against climate change.”

Jaworsky says the work being done will allow the ponds to be deeper and collect more water.
