Dunfield Theatre getting name change in 2018

The Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge will have a new name in time for the start of the 2018 season.

It’s being renamed the Hamilton Family Theatre.

John and Terry Hamilton initially contributed $500,000 in 2013 during the theatre’s inaugural season, in exchange for naming the auditorium. They have pledged another $500,000
for naming rights to the venue, that will span 20 years.

The Artistic Director of Drayton Entertainment, Alex Mustakas tells 570 NEWS, the Hamilton’s are a local family that wants to give back to the community.

“It really aligns well with our philosophy, of a grassroots community theatre…Producing some of the finest professional theatre in North America.

The name change was prompted by the sale of the Dunfield Retirement Residence last summer.
