A man is in critical condition after tumbling down the Elora Gorge.
Police say the 20-year-old was among a group of four hiking on Monday afternoon.
They say the group had climbed about 20 metres from a river bed when they realized they were on private property in Elora.
As they tried to get down again, the man slipped and fell to the bottom.
Centre of Wellington Fire Chief Brad Patton says firefighters were dispatched to the scene from the Elora and Fergus stations.
Patton says firefighters needed ropes and a stretcher to get him out, which took an hour.
Patton says problems start to arise once people start going off the trails.
He adds the Centre of Wellington Fire and Rescue are asking the public to stick with the trails for a safe and enjoyable hike.
The man was flown to a hospital by air ambulance.
