Significant Gas Leak in Waterloo

Regional Police and fire crews were on scene at King and Hickory in Waterloo this morning dealing with a gas leak.

Officials told 570 News a “significant gas line” was hit.

A small evacuation took place.

As a result, King was closed at Columbia and at Hickory, and Hickory was closed at Regina.

Officials had the gas leak contained by around 11:30 am.

Roads have since re-opened, but there is currently only one lane open in each direction on King St.

Union Gas has said that repairs are now complete, and that the flow of natural gas will return to customers in the affected area sometime this afternoon.

Union Gas also say that their crews will be going door to door to relight customers equipment and

that all employees that come to your home will have proper id badges.
