A big boost for the old Joseph Schneider Haus on Queen Street in Kitchener, as the federal government is investing $20,000 for restorations at the historic museum.
Local MP Raj Saini made the announcement yesterday, and says the project is all part of the government’s initiative to upgrade community infrastructure for Canada 150.
“Having good cultural spaces, having great museums — it’s a great attractive feature to have people come and settle here. But it’s also good for the community to have places where we can go to share our stories, tell our stories, celebrate, play sports, walk on the trails,” he says. “So these are announcements that I think really, really speak to the heart of what this community’s all about.”
The feds are re-vamping other community facilities across Canada such as parks, trails, cultural and community centres to help create a quote — “lasting legacy as Canada prepares for it’s 150th birthday.”
