OPP continue search in Huron and Bruce Counties for man believed armed with gun

Ontario Provincial police have reopened the area around one of two farms they cordoned off in an effort to locate a man involved in an alleged weapons-related incident.

Investigators say the incident, which spans Huron and Bruce Counties about 130 kilometres north of London, started Wednesday afternoon, but say they believe he is in illegal possession of a firearm.

OPP say the Huron County site is located just north of Kintail, and the second blocked-off property is located just south of Ripley, about 20 kilometres to the northeast in Bruce County.

Police said Thursday evening they have cleared the Kintail site, but remain at the Ripley farm.

They say they’re searching for 29-year-old Glenn O’Neill of Huron Township, described as being around six feet in height, weighing around 200 pounds, with a medium build and black hair. He is currently wanted for 4 counts of possess firearm while prohibited and 2 counts of possessing a weapon.

Investigators would like anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact the OPP immediately by dialing 911 or their nearest police authority. No attempt should be made to apprehend him.

They’re also encouraging area residents to secure their properties and vehicles, and report any suspicious activity.
