The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1189 represents about 200 full and part-time Guelph Transit employees, and will head to the bargaining table with the City of Guelph.
The two bargaining teams are planning on setting negotiation dates starting in late May, as the current contract agreement expires on June 30, 2017.
“We hope to negotiate a fair, reasonable and affordable contract with our transit employees,” said Mayor Cam Guthrie. “We want this contract to recognize our belief that Guelph Transit employees should be compensated appropriately for the valued work they do, and also recognize the need for balance to ensure long term affordability for our citizens.”
