Apartment complex planned for Breithaupt mansion site

14 years after the Breithaupt mansion on Margaret Avenue in Kitchener was demolished, a developer plans to build an apartment complex on the site.
The Record reports Vive Development Corporation is proposing a six-storey, 94-unit building on land fronting Victoria Street, and a two-and-a-half storey, 18-unit structure on the site of the former mansion at 64 Margaret Ave.
Four homes on Victoria North will be demolished to make way for the larger building.
A spokesperson for the developer says they hope to begin construction in the fall or next spring, with the buildings ready for occupancy about a year after construction starts.
