The Kitchener Rangers could not solve Michael McNiven in their first home game of the 2017 OHL Playoffs.
McNiven made 21 saves as Owen Sound blanked the Rangers 4-0 at The Aud on Monday. The win gives the Attack a 2-1 advantage in the series.
Despite the loss, Luke Opilka stood tall in the Kitchener net, making 41 saves.
Nick Suzuki had two of Owen Sound’s three third period goals. The product of London scored 45 in the regular season and is projected to be a first round pick in June’s NHL Draft.
“They’ve got a World Junior goalie, who if he sees a shot is going to stop them. They had a different level than us tonight.” said Rangers Head Coach Jay McKee.
“Same way as we did on the road. It’s a series and not just a one and done game. We’re going to put it behind us, get our work boots on and get ready for the next game here.” added Rangers defenceman Dylan Di Perna.
Kitchener will host Game 4 on Wednesday. 570 NEWS will have the pre-game show at 6:35 p.m.
Game 5 goes Friday night in Owen Sound.
