A Waterloo man was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital after a serious crash on Notre Dame Drive.
Sgt. Tim Lederman with Regional Police’s Traffic Division says the collision happened early Thursday morning between Erbs and Snyder’s Road.
“On March 23rd around 3:30 a.m., a 22-year-old Waterloo man was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Notre Dame Drive in Petersburg. He was southbound heading into Petersburg when his 2003 Infinity left the road, then struck a tree, and a hydro pole. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries.”
Lederman adds that the driver is expected to survive, and they believe that alcohol and speed were factors in this collision.
“There are definitely anticipated charges against the driver. But our investigation is still evolving, and we’re not complete with the scene yet.”
Police and crews were on scene at Notre Dame Drive for hours as their investigation was ongoing. The stretch of road reopened late on Thursday afternoon.
Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Regional Police at 519-653-7700 ext. 8857 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
