The University of Guelph and the union representing a number of its workers are scheduled to sit down with a mediator today.
They’re hoping to head off a potential strike that could begin as early as Monday morning.
CUPE Local 1334 represents around 240 trades, custodial and maintenance workers on campus.
Negotiations have been proceeding on and off again since November, but a deal has so far eluded the two sides.
The university says if there is a strike, it will do its best to minimize the impact on students, staff and others.
It stresses, all classes and exams would continue.
