Charges laid in connection with Kitchener crash Wednesday

Regional Police say charges have been laid after a serious two-car crash in Kitchener.

Police say the crash happened Wednesday afternoon at Gage Avenue and Westmount Road.

Westmount Road was shut down between Westwood and Brybeck for hours as police investigated.

Police say they believe the crash occurred after a northbound vehicle on Westmount failed to stop at a red light, and smashed into a turning car.

The car’s driver and passenger were both transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say a 62-year-old from Kitchener has been charged with failing to stop at a red light.
