Kitchener’s community and infrastructure services committee is struggling to find ways to accommodate the demand for ball diamonds.
According to a report presented by city staff, one solution would be to add lighting at two ball diamonds at Breithaupt Park to the tune of $580,000.
The Record reports residents of the area presented a petition against the prospect of those lights being installed saying, it would increase noise and obnoxious behaviour.
Councillors approved a $1.5 million plan to develop diamonds at Upper Canada Park for 2019.
The decision on the lighting proposal at Breithaupt has been delayed until April 3rd.
