Rangers win streak extended to three games with win over Saginaw

The Kitchener Rangers skated to their third straight victory Saturday night in Saginaw.

The Spirit made it tough on the Rangers, tying the game in the final minute of the third period.

Kitchener forward Joe Garreffa scored the overtime winner on their way to a 5-4 win.

Head Coach Jay McKee tells us his team got away from their gameplan midway through the first period.

“We had a misplay that they capitalized on and we took a couple of penalties that I wasn’t quite pleased with,” says McKee, “when you have a real good first period, you want to play a good smart second half of that period but we got away from the gameplan and ended up finding a way late in the game.”

Garreffa tells us it was a great effort by the team.

“Yeah, it’s obviously nice coming in here and winning,” says Garreffa, “the boys came out hard and gave it their all, what else can you ask for?”

The Rangers will try and extend their win streak to four games when they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs Family Day.
