Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared a Brantford police officer who walked into a police station and claimed that he had “murdered” two people.
The Special Investigations Unit says it reopened files on two separate fatal police interactions after the officer appeared at the station in December of 2014, wanting to discuss the deaths from years before.
The S-I-U says the officer was in a state of medical distress and that his claims were disjointed and marked by religious and paranoid delusions.
It says the officer was admitted to a health-care facility that same day.
