An intersection in Wellesley Township with a tragic history will be converted into a roundabout.
Regional council has voted in favour of the traffic circle at Ament Line and Herrgott Road.
It’s currently a two-way stop and staff had been recommending making it a four-way stop, but council went against that proposal in favour of the roundabout.
Pamela and Jeff Ringrose attended yesterday’s council meeting.
They lost their five-year-old daughter, Emma, in a crash there 11 years ago.
Today’s Record reports, Pamela Ringrose told councillors, “Given the total destruction of our vehicle, the only miracle from this accident was that we weren’t all killed.”
The intersection currently has a much higher than average collision rate.
The region is hoping to have the new roundabout installed by 2019, at the latest.
