Garbage collection delayed due to Costco store opening

Garbage collection in Waterloo Region was delayed Tuesday, thanks to the opening of the new Costco store in Waterloo.
Due to heavy traffic around the new location– which is right by the Waterloo landfill — garbage and recycling trucks were unable to get to and from their collection sites in a timely manner.
The Region says crews attempted to pick-up as much garbage, green bin and recycling as possible from the Tuesday collection areas– but expect that some streets will remain uncollected.
Any waste that is not collected Tuesday will be picked up Wednesday, and the Region is asking residents to just leave the items at the curb.
However, if waste remains uncollected after Wednesday, residents are asked to please bring it in from the curb and notify the Region’s customer service group at 519-575-4400.
