SIU probing death of man along the 401 in Cambridge

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the death of a man along the 401 through Cambridge.

It says Waterloo Regional Police were called out to the Hespeler Road overpass around 8pm Monday after receiving multiple reports of a man on the bridge.

The SIU says the 56-year-old man eventually fell from the bridge and was rushed to Cambridge Memorial Hospital where he died.

The agency has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-787-8529.

The SIU is called in whenever police are involved and someone is seriously hurt or dies or there is an alleged sexual assault.
