Laurier’s football team got back in the win column in a big way Thursday night.
The number seven Hawks rolled over the Varsity Blues 54 to 3 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto.
Receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. scored Laurier’s first two touchdowns, then added a third in the second quarter.
“Coming into this game, I felt healthy and I felt good,” said Gittens Jr. “I hadn’t had good games in the weeks before, so this game I just wanted to establish myself and that’s what I did.”
The Hawks improve to 5 and 1 and have tied Western for first place. Laurier’s only loss came to the Mustangs last weekend.
Next up, the Golden Hawks host Guelph in a school day game next Friday.
Guelph and the University of Waterloo both have this weekend off.
