Local company launches ‘KidsWifi’

A local company has launched a product that will help ease the worries of parents who are concerned about what their kids are looking at online.

Fibernetics has unveiled “KidsWifi,” an internet filtering device that plugs into the wall and syncs with your existing wireless internet signal.

It essentially blocks any tablet, smartphone or computer linked to that network from accessing any dangerous sites or downloading any malicious content.

John Stix, co-founder of Fibernetics tells us, the idea to create the device was sparked by a local story.

”A mother (came forward to say) unfortunately, her child was exposed to content that he shouldn’t have and it really inspired us to say enough is enough, we need to try to figure something out because parents just don’t have the tools to protect their children,” said Stix.

It will also ensure your kids aren’t surfing the web when they shouldn’t be.

“There is a bedtime setting where you can say the internet in our home shuts down at 9:30 at night, and wakes back up in the morning at the time that you have selected.”

The product retails online for $100 and has already received a high-profile endorsement.
