A recent influx of new animals in its care has the Guelph Humane Society asking for the public’s help.
It says it’s housing roughly 60 more small animals and birds than usual, many of which will require ongoing medical treatment.
Among the animals: 20 rabbits, over 30 species of quail, 5 hedgehogs and 2 chinchillas.
It estimates the cost of caring for the animals will be around $7,500 and is asking for cash or donations or supplies to help cover the costs.
The Humane Society says resources were already stretched before it took in these new animals.
Once they are healthy and old enough, they will be available for adoption.
