Canada Post withdraws lockout threat

With signs of progress in the contract dispute between Canada post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, the crown corporation has withdrawn its threat to lockout 50-thousand employees.

Canada Post originally threatened to lockout employees last Friday, before extending the deadline to today at 12:01 a.m.

The two sides have been negotiating for the last seven months, including 60 days of conciliation talks and more than 30 days with federal mediators.

But the talks have been deadlocked on the issues of employee pension plans and wage parity.
