Where would I be without my pile by the bed, stash on the coffee table or downloads on the iPad? Lonely. Without a constant friend. I fall to sleep every night with a book in my hands.
We chat about books a lot in this newsroom. We are big readers, big book lovers and we like to share and pass them around.

My go-to classics:
Anne of Green Gables. Yes. Always. And that’s Anne with an “E’. Anne Shirley will always be with me. Thank-you LMM.
Are you there God? It’s Me, Margaret. Judy Blume was always there for me during my pre and early teen years.

The Girl on the Train – soon to become a movie.
and The Lobster Kings by a Kitchener native, Alexi Zentner.
What I’ve got going now?
Just read Chrissy Hynde’s “Reckless” – A lot of drugs, Nixon politics, amazing rock/punk music history and you learn about her love of Toronto. I am halfway into Elvis Costello’s Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink.
From our Morning Reporter Martin Bauman: Just finished reading music producer Timbaland’s autobiography Emperor of Sound.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
She says: “I started this book and then I started planning a wedding, so it kind of took a back seat. Now that I am caught up on a few shows on Netflix and the wedding planning is taken care of, I am going back to this book because I have heard amazing things about it. I have read a few memoirs recently and was looking for some amazing fiction…and this one is amazing. Great writing. Tells a gripping story of Theo, who loses his mother in a car crash and is taken in by a wealthy family after he is abandoned by his dad. It’s also Pulitzer Prize winner! ”
And from our Afternoon Anchor Christine Clark – it’s a true modern classic and a household name. For her, it’s all about Harry. “I am reading through the Harry Potter series right now…for the 5th time.I grew up with the books and loved them! I was one of those crazy people who lined up for every book and movie in the series AND I was 11 when the 1st movie came out so naturally…thought it was a sign that an owl would be delivering my Hogwarts letter any day. I am reliving my childhood right now and once again … wish I could be a wizard.”
