Waterloo-based tech company OpenText is making United States Election coverage a little more bearable with Election Tracker 2016.
Chief Marketing Officer, Adam Howatson says the website gathers massive amounts of information being posted online related to the election.
“We thought we could provide a very unique perspective particularly with our big data analysis and our natural language mining, or text mining, to provide an aggregate overview of what is the tone, topics? What are the candidates talking about? What are they key themes emerging around the U.S. election?”
We can see how much positive or negative coverage each candidate is getting, what’s trending, and take a look at who is reporting the most on this year’s election.
Howatson says this tool can also be used to monitor our own elections.
“I’m sure that would be a very different dynamic in a Canadian election, and it’s absolutely something I think we’d look at in the OpenText side, to do a similar piece or similar technology for the next Canadian election.”
The website monitors, and compares facts about the U.S. Presidential Election from the world’s top online news agencies.
