Another coyote attack in Kitchener involving a small dog. It happened early Monday in the Stanley Park area.
Jonathan Friesen tells 570’s Eric Drozd Show his family dog, a miniature Schnauzer, was snatched from a backyard area.
“Marley was out…All of a sudden Marley was barking and screaming and looked to see, a coyote had grabbed the dog.”
The owner managed to get the coyote to drop it. Marley needed stitches for some big gashes.
“They’re very opportunistic animals. They’ll basically find, catch and locate whatever they can at the time. Their diet ranges according to what’s available, whether it’s plants or animals.” added the City of Kitchener’s, John Shea.
City wildlife officials tell 570 News stay with your pet and keep them on a leash. Also make loud noises to keep them safe.
