The Flint Firebirds utilized an empty net goal and held off a late Kitchener Rangers comeback attempt to stun the home team 3-2 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium last night.
The Firebirds entered the game trailing the Rangers by 41 points in the standings.
Rangers head coach Mike Van Ryn says allowing the Firebirds to take the lead, gave up a chance at an important two points.
“Our passing wasn’t smart, I didn’t think we handled the puck well tonight. We had a lot things that didn’t go right. We just couldn’t seem to get anything going. We haven’t scored enough goals lately, only getting two again, we have to start finding ways to put the puck in the net.”
The Rangers return to action tonight when they travel to Erie to take on the Otters. Pre-game on 570 News is at 6:30, puck drops at 7:00.
